Statement of Intent
As these abandoned homes in the Scottish Highlands slowly decay, the echoes of their former inhabitants grow progressively fainter. Possessions that would once have been unremarkable parts of domestic life become alien as time passes. Partially boarded-up windows and damage to the fabric of the buildings create unusual directional lighting and texture.
I work with the tableaux of these past lives as I find them, looking for visual interest in the debris. I seek to convey the perception of previous lives that are no longer lived and for the viewer to build their own narrative around the images.
